Venkateshwar International School (VIS), Dwarka, Delhi, hosted a TEDx session on December 23 with the theme “Present in Purpose, Purpose in Present.” The event featured thought-provoking talks by speakers from diverse professional backgrounds, offering students an opportunity to learn from lived experiences, engage with practical perspectives, and reflect on real-world challenges and personal growth.
The programme opened with a welcome address by Ms. Pooja Sharma, Vice Principal, VIS. The first TEDx talk was delivered by Dr. Shweta Tanwar from ICMR, who reflected on her journey in scientific research and healthcare. She shared real-world insights and underscored the importance of evidence-based thinking in informed decision-making.
Students then heard from Mr. Himanshu Tandon, Vice President of Business at CMF, who spoke about leadership shaped by everyday choices and real professional situations. He remarked, “Leadership is not about having all the answers but about making informed choices and standing by them. When students learn to think clearly and act responsibly, they are better equipped to face challenges with confidence and integrity.”
A cultural performance followed, after which noted branding consultant Ms. Anita Nayyar shared perspectives drawn from her professional journey. The next session, by clinical psychologist and spiritual counsellor Pulkit Sharma, received an enthusiastic response as he spoke about creativity, mindset, and self-belief. He noted, “Our limitations do not define us—our mindset does. Platforms like TEDx allow young people to recognise the power of self-belief, individuality, and expression, which are essential for personal and creative growth.”
The programme also featured talks by Ms. Sonia Arora Sood, Founder and Chief Creative Director of the Karabi Art Community, and Mr. Tapas Das Mohapatra, Co-Founder of Possiblers and a leadership coach. A solo instrumental performance provided a reflective interlude for the audience.
The event concluded with a closing address by Mr. Rakesh Khatri, popularly known as “The Nest Man of India,” who inspired students to reflect on their responsibility towards environmental conservation. The programme ended with the felicitation of the organising team by Dr. Manisha Sharma, Principal, VIS, along with Ms. Pooja Sharma, bringing the TEDx event to a memorable close.
