OPPO India has partnered with the Department of Basic Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and UMMEED NGO to set up smart classrooms in 44 government primary schools across the state by March 2026. The programme will benefit approximately 5,000 students, providing them with access to technology-enabled learning environments.

This initiative will be implemented across five districts—Lucknow (10 schools), Ayodhya (10 schools), Varanasi (10 schools), Gorakhpur (8 schools), and Agra (6 schools). Students will gain access to computers, laptops, interactive smart TVs, curated digital content, dedicated digital classrooms, and other essential equipment for skill development.

The project aims to enhance the quality of education in primary schools through smart classrooms, ensuring access to new-age learning opportunities for all children, including those from underserved communities. As part of the initiative, over 80 teachers will also receive training to integrate technology into their teaching practices effectively. Motivational sessions for students and parents will also be held in selected schools.

This programme is designed to enhance learning by providing access to curated digital content in dedicated smart classrooms. The core curriculum is designed to cater to diverse learning needs, incorporating interactive and project-based approaches to enhance engagement and comprehension. The scheme ensures holistic student development by combining academic subjects with practical life skills.

To mark the occasion, the first smart classroom was inaugurated at Primary School, Bhaja Kheda, Lucknow, by Shri Deepak Kumar, Agriculture Production Commissioner, and Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Basic and Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh. The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Shri Awanish K Awasthi, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh; Shri Rakesh Bhardwaj, Director, OPPO India; Dr Roshan Jacob, IAS Divisional Commissioner and Competent Authority, Lucknow; along with other senior officials from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and UMMEED NGO.

Rakesh Bhardwaj, Director, OPPO India, said, ” Our partnership with the Uttar Pradesh Education Board strengthens our commitment further by creating smart classrooms that foster digital learning and future-ready skills. Through this initiative, we aim to help students realise their potential while advancing digital inclusion, technical knowledge and enhancing learning outcomes.”
