This year, the theme of the Conservation and Restoration Conference (CARC 21) will be “Sustainable Development Goals and India”and will be virtual from 10am-4 pm on May 23.
“We believe this topic will garner the attention of younger generations and inspire them to be a part of the movement to save our ecosystems and work towards a cleaner, greener future, aligning with the UN’s SDG17 in the process,” said a statement from CoResolved, the host organization.
The event will consist of three panel discussions with the opening panel emphasizing the relevance between Sustainable Development Goals in India. This Panel will be led by Mr Karthik Ponnappa, Co-Founder of Smarter Dharma. The second panel focuses more on understanding the importance of Western Ghats and addressing various issues in relation to the Western Ghats, this Panel will consist of Dr Gururaja KV, Faculty at Srishti Institute of Art and Design, Dr Aravind Madhyastha, Professor at ATREE, Ms Meera Rajesh, Principal Consultant at Smarter Dharma and Mr Anand Achar, Trustee of Krishi Prayog Parivar. The concluding panel will list out solutions that one can implement first as an individual and further at a community level. Ms Vani Murthy, a Member of SWMRT and Ms Wilma Rodrigues, Founder and CEO of Saahas Waste Management will be the speakers of this panel.
“We hope to build upon the success of last year’s conference and further increase the reach and positive impact that CARC has had on students, environmental activists and general audiences interested in conservation. We will be capturing 1kg of carbon for every person who registers along with offsetting the carbon emission for our conference to truly ensure that it is completely carbon negative,” the group added.
